    Since its foundation in 2019, Ekaitz has supported the BilbaoPortlab project to build an open innovation ecosystem in the Port of Bilbao.

    Chris Poyner
    Head of Shore Power - ABB Marine and Ports, Board Member - EOPSA
    With over 20years experience in the decarbonisation of process industries, Chris now leads the ABB Shore Power business with a focus on implementing ABBs innovative technologies to not only minimise the environmental impact of vessel calls, but also improve energy efficiency through every part of the process. In 2024, Chris became a Board Member of EOPSA to further support their work in assisting the implementation of Shore power in Europe.

    Mark van der Veen
    Director - Graduate School of Business, Amsterdam Business School
    Dr. Mark van der Veen is director of the Graduate School of Business at University of Amsterdam, responsible for the MSc programmes in Business Administration, Finance, Accountancy & Control and Entrepreneurship. His focus in teaching and research has always been on the interaction between business and sustainability. For his PhD research at Erasmus University Rotterdam, he studied the organization and success of green product development projects. Mark was involved in several national and international studies on port environmental management, including ECOPORTS in Europe, and auditing and training projects with seaports in Vietnam and Cambodia. His special interest is in the strategic, economic and organizational aspects of port environmental management.

    Mike Sellers
    Port Director, Portsmouth International Port
    Mike has been leading the transformation of Portsmouth International Port since his appointment as Port Director in 2017.This has involved concentrating efforts in making sure the UK’s most successful local authority owned port plays a prominent role in positioning Portsmouth as the country’s leading marine and maritime city, and it is fast establishing itself as innovative and sustainable industry pioneer.

    With a wealth of experience with 30 years in the ports industry, Mike has previously worked at seven major UK ports. Roles include Port Manager at Grimsby and Immingham, the largest port complex in the UK, where he oversaw the movement of 54 million tonnes of cargo each year. Mike was heavily involved in the development of the Immingham Renewable Fuels Terminal, the world’s largest biomass handling facility, and has also held senior roles at a number of ports in East Anglia and Humberside.

    Mike currently sits on the national board for Port Skills and Safety and is a non-executive director for Maritime UK Solent. He has also held the position as chair for the British Ports Association (BPA), an industry trade organisation representing the interests of UK ports to the various tiers of national and devolved governments in the UK and internationally.
