Richard Davidson
Middle East Director - Waste , Ricardo PLC
Richard Davidson is the Middle East Director for Waste at Ricardo PLC. He possesses over 20 years of experience within the waste and environmental sectors. In this capacity, Richard oversees Ricardo’s engagement with regional clients, providing comprehensive support across the entire project lifecycle — from strategic planning to full implementation. His current responsibilities include the ongoing support of the development of more than ten regional waste infrastructure assets, each at varying stages of the development process.
James Cook
CEO, Advisory, Tribe Infrastructure Group
James is an Executive Director and the Head of Advisory at Tribe Infrastructure Group, based in Abu Dhabi in the UAE. James started his career in the UK in the early 2000’s working on numerous UK waste PFI projects in various technical, commercial and financial roles. After moving to the UAE in 2010, initially with Ernst & Young, and then the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa), James moved to Tribe in 2014. Tribe Infrastructure Ltd (‘Tribe Advisory’) is a global financial and commercial advisory firm operating across all infrastructure sectors, across multiple continents. James advised the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Masdar) on the Sharjah waste to energy project, the first project financed facility of its kind in the GCC, and first plant in the UAE (reaching financial close in 2018). James then acted as the lead and financial advisor to Dubai Municipality on the 1.9 MTPA, 200MWe, Dubai Waste Management Centre, which reached financial close in summer of 2021. James is currently advising the Abu Dhabi Government on a 900,000 TPA waste to energy facility which is currently in the procurement stage.
Roni Araiji
Managing Director Middle East, Kanadevia Inova
Roni Araiji is the Country President of Kanadevia Inova (KVI) in the Middle East, a global leader in energy-from-waste solutions. With over 21 years at KVI—12 of which have been in the Middle East—he brings extensive expertise in developing, executing, and operating waste-to-energy plants. He has played a key role in the development of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi waste-to-energy projects, as well as in eight similar projects across Europe, overseeing all on-site execution activities.
Siegfried Scholz
President, ESWET
Siegfreid Scholz received his Diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) in Industrial Engineering, from Karlsruhe University (KIT), Germany in 1988, and completed his Thesis (Ph. D.) in Power Plant Engineering, at Essen University (UDE), in 1994.
Between 1988 and 2011 Siegfried worked for a range of technical and engineering companies including Deutsche Babcock AG, Omnical GmbH, Oschatz GmbH, John Zink International S.à r.L. in Luxembourg and Germany. During that time he had engineering, sales management and Project Director and Operations Director roles.
In 2012 Siegfried joined Standardkessel Baumgarte as Managing Director and in January 2024 he moved to Kanadevia Inova as Country President, Germany.
Siegfreid has represented ESWET as President since January 2020.
