Meadow View Farm School is a specialist provision supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. In this session, the school’s headteacher Ryan Kilby – who also has experience of working in mainstream schools and pupil referral units – will offer advice for mainstream primary schools on supporting the wellbeing of our pupils. Topics will include attachment and trauma-awareness, emotion coaching, approaches to behaviour management & more. Ryan will link his presentation to the mental health elements of the new RSHE statutory curriculum.

    Ryan has a wealth of experience working in mainstream schools, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) special schools, pupil referral units and at the student support services. He has supported schools, professionals and training providers nationally and internationally developing systems and processes. He has worked for Inspiring Leaders on the NPQH course and delivered workshops and keynotes at conferences.

    Ryan has worked closely with Dr Janet Rose and Dr Licette Gus at Emotion Coaching UK sharing the work of the school far reaching. A recent link has been made with leaders of Derbyshire’s Special Schools seeking Ryan’s support and guidance in developing their systems around MVFS’s Success Model.
