In this presentation, Michelle O'Neill, Leader of PSHE, Citizenship, RE & Careers at Wellacre Academy in Greater Manchester, part of the Alliance for Learning, will cover basic logistical practicalities that commonly face teachers and school leaders responsible for RSHE. Themes will include where to access good quality resources, how to get teams on board, how to train non-specialists to deliver content, tips for curriculum planning/mapping, ideas for how to deliver large amounts of content over limited curriculum time, engaging difficult parents, policy writing and more.

    Leader of Humanities & Whole School SMSC, Wellacre Academy, Greater Manchester

    Michelle has been a teacher of humanities since 2005. Michelle took over as Leader of Humanities In 2013. The role expanded in 2018 to incorporate whole-school spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development, as well as a position on the school's extended leadership team. Wellacre Academy was an 'early adopter' school for the RSHE 2020 statutory guidance. Michelle has been a specialist leader of education (SLE) for PSHE with the Alliance for Learning since September 2019, and has been involved in leading their PSHE Hub and contributing to their DfE funded 'Train the Trainer' CPD scheme, which is currently being rolled out to over 300 schools.
