In this session, Amelia Jenkinson, CEO & Co-founder, of RSE not-for-profit organisation School of Sexuality Education, will discuss five of the most common barriers she encounters to effective RSE in the secondary school setting. She will describe these barriers, why they occur and how schools might overcome them. These barriers will touch upon issues including LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, inclusive language and approaches, as well as ensuring RSE is fit for purpose in 2020 and that it addresses modern phenomena such as teen digital cultures.

Other topics include rights-based RSE and the importance of creating a safe space. Amelia will also discuss holistic RSE and how to ensure that RSE messages are echoed across the whole school.
