WEBINAR DETAILS
  • About
Day 2, session 1 of the Secondary stream is from Jon Tait who will explore study skills, learning habits and parental engagement.

There is increasing evidence showing the power and impact that study skills and learning habits can have for all students, but especially for those on the Pupil Premium.

In this workshop Jon Tait will discuss Acklam Grange School’s (41% Pupil Premium) work to embed essential high-quality study skills and learning habits across its curriculum, including approaches such as spaced learning, interleaving, and retrieval practice. A key part of the work has been to provide parents with the resources, tools and confidence to help their children exploit these skills at home – this includes video blogs and direct engagement with families, especially those who are disadvantaged. The ultimate aim of the work is to help students develop learning habits that are set in stone and which they can fall back on at difficult moments. Jon will offer practical insights into the work, including challenges faced, ideas to adapt and adopt and further advice.
