About LCME

London College of Music Examinations
Celebrating diversity in creative arts

Since 1887 LCME has welcomed all those who share our passion for music and drama, inspiring generations of students to become performers, composers, teachers and informed listeners. We offer qualifications in classical, contemporary and traditional music, drama, communication, spoken English, DJing, early learning and creative media. LCME qualifications are taken and recognised worldwide.

LCME was founded on the principle of offering music education to all who wish to learn. From the beginning the courses offered were open to all ages and backgrounds, regardless of gender — an emphasis on accessibility which was unique in comparison with the other music colleges of the time. This ethos continues to inspire us today as in 2020 we lead the way in digital and online exam provision.
