Tutoring is a key strand of the government’s policy to help some of the most disadvantaged pupils catch up on education missed during the pandemic.

Not-for-profit tutoring organisation Tutor Trust is a partner with the National Tutoring Programme and provides services to schools across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Leeds and Bradford.

It has worked with Parklands Primary School in Leeds for a year with positive results.

This session will look at what makes for great tutoring and why good relationships, clear communication and being adaptable are key.

    Headteacher, Parklands Primary School, Leeds
    Chris is an experienced Headteacher with more than 20 years in school leadership roles.

    He now leads the Outstanding Parklands Primary School in Leeds. Exclusions have fallen from 150 in 2014 to one last year. Chris is skilled in coaching, change management and staff development.

    He is a TES Business Collaboration Award winner and has a Hero of Yorkshire Award.

    Sharon Sadler
    Leeds Schools Partnership Manager, Tutor Trust, Manchester
    Sharon has more than 20 years’ experience in education and has taught in schools in London and Bradford.

    As an Advanced Skills Teacher she supported and developed the teaching of literacy in a number of schools in Bradford faced with their own unique challenges such as high percentages of EAL, SEND learners and disadvantaged families.

    Sharon also has a SpLD Post Graduate Certificate and Diploma in Dyslexia and, as well as working for Tutor Trust, Sharon is also a teaching and learning consultant, coach and mentor.

    She develops bespoke training and development packages for schools to transform practice, impact on pupil progress, strengthen the quality and effectiveness of senior management teams and facilitate teacher career progression.
