Not all schools have the budget available to hire costumes (although Harlequins Costumes can provide bespoke packages to suit all budgets) so Jonathan has some tips on how to create certain looks on a budget and how to set the scene using simple settings that won't break the bank. He will also reveal some secret techniques his costumes use to aid quick costume changes, adaptability and comfort of young performers.

    Jonathan Boxall-Southall
    Managing Director, Harlequins Costumes

Jonathan has been producing theatrical productions with his own theatre company since he graduated from university. After struggling to find costumiers that could supply high quality costumes that would fit or even work with young performers, he decided to make each costume himself, which formed the beginning of a large costume stock.

He realised other practitioners faced similar issues when sourcing costumes, so he set out to assist teachers with their productions. Each costume is handmade by Jonathan and his team. Each costume is altered to fit the students’ measurements and is fully accessorised so they are ready to wear by students across the UK. Managing over 10,000 costumes, Harlequins Costumes can provide costumes for shows both big and small, and are constantly adding to their collection.
