co-owner of Growing Wild Outdoor Nursery, Barnsley
Over the past 28 years Janet’s career has taken her from primary school teacher to Further and Higher Education lecturer and programme leader, Forest Schools practitioner, nursery manager and early childhood consultant and trainer in outdoor learning.
During this time, she has been fortunate to travel to different parts of the world, to learn about outdoor practice from places such as Iceland, Denmark and Canada.
In 2019, she set up Growing Wild Outdoor Nursery, with business partner Lindsey Bielby, which was the realisation of a long-term goal for both of them. Over the past year, she has worked with Jan White and Liz Edwards to set up Outdoors Thinking, a new training company to deliver qualifications and training in onsite outdoor practice. Her current interest is in sustainability mindset and children’s intra-actions with the natural world.
