Day 1, session 4 is from Adele Bates who will discuss pastoral support, Pupil Premium and successful pupil outcomes
How do we address the pastoral needs of our Pupil Premium students in order to support positive academic outcomes? This workshop is aimed at both primary and secondary colleagues and will examine how pastoral initiatives can work for Pupil Premium students, and how we can tie them directly to positive academic progress.
We will look at how the new, compulsory PSHE and RSE and mental health curriculum can support this work; how staff who work with Pupil Premium children can be supported themselves; and parent/carer relationships with school. Participants will the leave the workshop with clear ideas on how to put the young person and their individual needs first in order to create effective and practical pastoral strategies of support that link directly to learning and actually work.
