About
In this webinar, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Kapsch TrafficCom will share insights of the Irish Government's pilot program for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS), an initiative aimed at creating safer and more intelligent roadways.

The C-ITS pilot is part of then Network Intelligence and Management System (NIMS) project in Ireland, for the implementation of which TII has entrusted Kapsch TrafficCom.

Through NIMS, TII is seeking to
• manage traffic flow,
• optimize the performance of the motorway network,
• ensure the efficient dissemination of traffic and network performance information, and
• coordinate incident response capabilities more effectively.

C-ITS: Driving Communication Forward
At the heart of the pilot program lies C-ITS technology, which enables vehicles to seamlessly communicate with each other, roadside infrastructure and traffic control centers. This allows the real-time transmission of safety alerts and advisory messages directly to drivers. Safety notifications, including collision and congestion warnings, roadwork updates, and weather conditions, will be sent through smartphone apps or tablets connected to roadside units installed on the M50 and M1 motorways in Dublin.

Shared insights:
• How the C-ITS pilot helps improve effectiveness of the Irish road network
• Preceding issues and how they were addressed
• General benefits of C-ITS
• C-ITS use cases from across the globe and
• lessons learned from real-life urban and interurban deployments
