Toby Claudio

He is a household name in the Philippines, especially among those who enjoy sports. That’s because his name is on the sign of the largest sports chain in the country, Toby’s Sports.

He was educated at the University of the Philippines and finished Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and was an Oblation Scholar as well as a member of the UP Varsity Baseball team.

When he joined their family business in 2000, Toby’s only had 13 stores. Since then, he has been responsible for the exponential growth of the business. Now totaling 70 stores nationwide, Toby’s Sports is a 3-time winner of the Most Outstanding Filipino Retailer, and a Hall of Fame awardee of the Philippine Retailers’ Association.

He is also the brainchild of the first world-class running specialty store in the Philippines, called RUNNR. Equipped with cutting edge technology to analyze customer’s foot type and running gait, RUNNR has blazed the trail for retail innovation. It has been acknowledged as one of the best running stores in the world and also went on to win a Most Outstanding Filipino Retailer award in 2015.

His most recent venture is urbanAthletics, a sports-lifestyle store inspired by sneaker culture and fashion. It also followed in the footsteps of Toby’s and Runnr, winning Most Outstanding Filipino Retailer in 2016.

In recognition of his accomplishments as a Retail Innovator, he was a recipient of the Young Market Masters Award for Business Development in 2008. He is also a Past President of Junior Chamber International – Manila, one of Asia’s top leadership development organizations where he was awarded as the World’s Most Outstanding Local Chapter President at the JCI World Congress in Belgium in 2011.

Toby is an avid sportsman and triathlete and has finished multiple Ironman triathlons. He is married and the father of three boys who he enjoys playing a variety of sports with, namely: Basketball, Golf, Tennis, Badminton, and Mountain biking.

Rezwana Manjur
Rezwana Manjur has close to a decade of experience under her belt, first joining MARKETING-INTERACTIVE in 2012 as a journalist.

Over the years, she has risen through the ranks in the newsroom, working across markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Hong Kong. During her time with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, she has interviewed several high-profile individuals, from Sir Martin Sorrell to Gary Vaynerchuk and Russell Simmons.

In her current role, she oversees the overall direction for the MARKETING-INTERACIVE brand working closely with the editorial, production and commercial teams across online, new media, print, social and events.
