Over the next few years, Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) testing could reshape both cancer screening and the laboratory market that supports it. Congress recently passed legislation to pave the way for Medicare coverage of MCEDs beginning in 2028-2029, and commercial payer adoption is expected to expand the market further. In the meantime, there is a large and growing cash-pay market among consumers and self-insured employers.
Emerging MCED tests can screen for signals associated with multiple cancers, including cancers for which routine screening is not currently available. For patients, that creates the possibility of identifying more cancers at earlier, potentially more treatable stages. For laboratories, it could open a significant new category of testing volume and create a multi-billion-dollar market opportunity.
While some MCEDs based on proprietary DNA sequences will likely be concentrated in a few large, centralized clinical laboratories, others that utilize FDA-cleared immunoassay and clinical chemistry IVD kits are more amenable to being run in multiple labs throughout the U.S.
Join Jonathan Cohen, President and CEO of 20/20 BioLabs; Jon Harol, Founder of Lighthouse Lab Services; and Dr. Mao Mao, Founder and CEO of SeekIn, for a forward-looking discussion about what MCED testing could mean for patient care, laboratory growth and the future of cancer screening. 20/20 Biolabs’s OneTest and SeekIn’s OncoSeek are examples of MCEDs that can be offered in numerous labs with an algorithm license.
During this webinar, our panel will explore:
• What MCED testing is and why it could represent an important advance in cancer screening
• How the new Medicare coverage pathway could accelerate adoption and create a $30 billion laboratory market.
• The regulatory, clinical and reimbursement developments that will determine how quickly the market grows
• Potential strategies for laboratory participation, including performing and validating an assay, developing referral relationships with centralized testing providers, and joining collaborative industry efforts
• What laboratory leaders can begin doing now to evaluate their capabilities, partnerships and long-term MCED strategy
This webinar is designed for:
• Independent and reference laboratory owners and executives
• Hospital and health system laboratory leaders
• Laboratory directors, pathologists and clinical leaders
• Business development, strategy and commercial leaders within diagnostic organizations
• Laboratories exploring new testing modalities or oncology services
• Organizations interested in the emerging regulatory and reimbursement landscape for MCED testing
