Feedforward control is commonly used in boiler two and three element control. A pound of steam out is replaced by a pound of feedwater into the boiler. Feedforward control can also be applied to other types of processes as well. The challenge is knowing how to tune a feedforward controller to assist the feedback controller and not overcorrect.
