With the implementation of new guidelines, this challenge to smaller institutions is amplified. Topics to be discussed include: compliance, implementation of non-biased processes, prevention, partnerships, student demographics, and training.

Title IX Coordinator Emporia State University
Jennifer has worked in the field of sexual and domestic violence for more than a decade. During that time, she has done direct, volunteer shelter advocacy, participated in court watch programs, provided legal representation to victims including protection orders, custody, and immigration assistance, done systems work through coordinated community response teem facilitation through Title IX. Jennifer was the Deputy Title IX Coordinator at KU before joining ESU. She was the Legal Assistance for Victims Attorney at the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence and had a private legal practice at Highberger & Ananda law office in Lawrence. In addition to being the Title IX Coordinator at ESU, Jennifer is also the Mayor of Lawrence, KS.

Sara Zafar, J.D.
Title IX Coordinator, Wichita State University
Sara is the Title IX Coordinator for Wichita State University. Sara was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. She received her B.A. in history and her juris doctorate from the University of Kansas. Prior to joining WSU, Sara was an attorney at Kansas Legal Services, working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence to provide holistic legal representation, including assisting with protection orders, family law, criminal process advocacy, housing, and other legal matters arising from a crime. Previously, she was the staff attorney and Legal Assistance for Victims attorney at the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence in Topeka. She was also and attorney in the Hutchinson Kansas Legal Services Office, and has served as a volunteer victim advocate in the Wichita Sexual Assault Advocacy Center.
