About
It is necessary to empower students to be active bystanders, passionate about culture change, and ultimately hold their peers and institution responsible for providing a safe campus and support for survivors. This presentation will equip attendees with tools to develop and provide engaging prevention programming which addresses sexual and dating violence. Kayla Grant and Hannah Bell will discuss elements to creating an engaging presentation, program delivery and student participation, breaking the barrier to discussing violence, and more!

Kayla Grant, MSW

Kayla holds her Master’s Degree in Clinical Children and Family Social Work. She has spent the past 8 years at LACASA providing prevention and education to youth, support to survivors of interpersonal violence, systems change efforts within the criminal legal system, and awareness to Livingston County residents. She received the Livingston Prosecutor’s Above and Beyond Award for her work with Livingston County Sexual Assault Protocols, and has been recognized by the Governor’s office for developing groundbreaking prevention and education programs for Livingston County youth. Kayla leads the Social Change Department at LACASA. She strives to empower professionals, community members, and youth to end domestic violence and sexual assault within our community.

Hannah Bell, B.A.

Hannah has worked in environmental, human service, and faith-based non-profit agencies for eleven years, across Wayne, Jackson, Washtenaw, and Livingston county, MI. Her primary roles include supporting, organizing, and educating adolescents and adults. Hannah has been with LACASA for 2 years and is now focused on developing and implementing violence prevention education and restorative practices for adolescents and young adults. Her passions include providing support and education for teens and young adults to aid in formation of autonomy, and emotional and relational health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University in Youth Ministry with a specialization in Psychology, and is trained in adolescent mental health first aid. Her speech, Mental Illness: Anxiety and Depression was published in a text book on effective communication by Washtenaw Community College professor and Communication Arts Department Chair, JuJuan C. Taylor, PhD. In her free time, Hannah enjoys camping, kayaking, home improvement projects, and spending time with her spouse and her rescue pets.
