Malcolm Elliott left home and went off to start his sea going career when he was 15 years old. By the time he was 24 he was sailing as a chief engineer. He then travelled as a trouble shooter around the world on a fleet of 73 ships before starting his own marine engineering and boat building company in Scotland. He was also involved in salmon farming and trucking. For the last 28 years he has been surveying yachts in South Florida and around the world and has built up a team of 8 highly experienced surveyors who are capable of inspecting any vessel to any of the rules and recommendations. Last year alone Florida Nautical Surveyors completed 783 separate surveys on vessels ranging from a 10 foot custom carbon fiber dinghy to a 247 foot Lurssen motor Yacht. With his knowledge and experience he is often called upon to be an expert witness in the State and Federal courts and also is called in by various people in the marine field for advise in disputes and repairs.
