Malcolm Elliott left home and went off to start his sea going career when he was 15 years old. By the time he was 24 he was sailing as a chief engineer. He then travelled as a trouble shooter around the world on a fleet of 73 ships before starting his own marine engineering and boat building company in Scotland. He was also involved in salmon farming and trucking. For the last 28 years he has been surveying yachts in South Florida and around the world and has built up a team of 8 highly experienced surveyors who are capable of inspecting any vessel to any of the rules and recommendations. Last year alone Florida Nautical Surveyors completed 783 separate surveys on vessels ranging from a 10 foot custom carbon fiber dinghy to a 247 foot Lurssen motor Yacht. With his knowledge and experience he is often called upon to be an expert witness in the State and Federal courts and also is called in by various people in the marine field for advise in disputes and repairs.
Peter Berkley is the Service Manager at RPM Diesel Engine Company and has been with RPM Diesel Engine Company since 1999. As Service Manger he oversees 20 marine technicians as well as his office support staff of 4 people. Peter came to RPM Diesel from Coach USA where he supervised a support staff of 12. He was elected to the Board of Directors for the Fraternal Order of Police lodge in Davie Florida in 1994. As a board member he coordinated with Police Officers and union members to perform fund raisers and scholarship programs for Police officer’s and their families. Peter has also been an active member of The Southwest Ranches Fire Rescue Department since 2003.
Brian Fowler is the Marine Engine Consultant for Caterpillar. He has been with Caterpillar since 1997 including his tenure with Gregory Poole Marine Power and Caterpillar Inc. prior to joining Pantropic Power in 2015. His background with CAT has been primarily with Service and Product Support with a focus on vessel machinery space maintenance and management along with corporate assistance as a 50 Ton Captain.
Rafael Betts has enjoyed a successful career in Sales and Operations for over 27 years. For the past 15 years he has been focused primarily on the marine industry, with a heavy emphasis on the service side of the Super Yacht and Sport Fishing sector. Rafael currently assumes the role of Product Support and Service Manager at Pantropic Power; the local CAT dealer for South Florida. The team of Product Service Professionals that he manages, oversee hundreds of projects not only in the Marine industry but also in Power Generation throughout South Florida and the Caribbean.
