    In addition, Joe is the Founder and Partner of United Island and Yacht in Fort Lauderdale, whom along with its sister company in Nassau, United Shipping, forms one of the top yacht agency organization in our region. United Island & Yacht offers agency and shore support to superyachts entering the region. Their services include but are not limited to: U.S. customs & immigration clearance, U.S. B1B2 Visa’s, provisioning, Bahamian Visa’s, Bahamas charter inspection & fees, itinerary planning, and bunkering. United has offices in Fort Lauderdale Fl., West Palm Beach Fl, Nassau, and Harbour Island, Bahamas.

    During his career, Joe has achieved great recognition from many business groups in Florida, as well as the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism.     Bay Street Marina
    Peter a local Bahamian with roots stretching back to the original families that settled the bahamas in the 1600’s was raised on the water and throughout the islands of the Bahamas As a result of his schooling abroad Peter returned home to the Bahamas and has worked 30 years in the maritime and marina industry first taking over and running Hurricane Hole in the 90’s. Peter has also run the Atlantis marinas which included the purchase and operations of Hurricane Hole and the development and building the Private marina at Ocean Club estates. Peter is the currently general manager at Baystreet marina which is located in the heart of the Nassau Harbour. Baystreet boasts the largest marina in the bahamas with well over 120 slips and 600’ docks with 22’ drafts. Peter developed and built Baystreet which was opened late in 2013 and has the most modern power system and RO water in the bahamas.

    Peter founded and is the president of the association of the Association of bahamas Marinas. As a member of the Government Port Authority Committee and the National Maritime Policy Implementation Committee for the government of the Bahamas.

    He has several other businesses in the bahamas which include the waterfront restaurants Green Parrot and the now infamous Margaritaville located on Paradise island.

    Bob Saxon is an iconic figure in the global yachting community. With over 35 years of experience he has been in pioneer in yacht management, crew management, yacht build projects and yacht charter specializing in the luxury yacht space. He is regarded by many as the patriarch of yacht management and charter, bringing a highly professional and rigorous approach to the effective management and operation mega-yachts around the world.

    He has held a series of senior executive and leadership positions in the industry working with prestigious brands. Most recently Bob was VP of Yacht Mgt, Charter and Crew Placement with MarineMax, a billion dollar publicly-traded company, a role he recently assumed more recently with HMY Yachts. Bob was also President of IYC with a half billion dollars in listings and offices in strategic ports of call: Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, Florida, Newport, Rhode Island, Nassau, Bahamas, St. Maarten and Monaco. Further to his resume’ he was formerly President of Camper & Nicholson’s USA, the largest full service yacht brokerage, charter, management and new build specialists in the world. He held the position from 2002-2008 after selling his own business Bob Saxon Associates to Camper & Nicholsons. Prior to his role with Camper & Nicholsons he had owned and operated Bob Saxon Associates for 15 years a leader in professional yacht management services. Earlier in his career Bob was President of the Sacks Group and Vice President of Whittemore & Williams, the forerunner and pioneer of yacht management services.

    Throughout his career he has worked with some 3,000 yacht owners on a broad number of yachts and types and a diverse array of projects. He is well known among yacht owners, crew and industry peers as having the highest standards of integrity, fastidious attention to detail and relentless tenacity.

    Bob is also the Founding President of the International Superyacht Society, an industry trade group that supports the global superyacht industry and serves to facilitate best practices and networking across the industry at large. He is a licensed broker-manager with Florida Yacht Brokers Association and a leading industry spokesman and advocate. As an accomplished public-speaker he has addressed a variety of groups and associations on matters related to the industry, served as master of ceremonies at yachting affiliated events and been interviewed quoted by a range of leading media including the New York Times, Yachting, Showboats, The Economist, CNBC, National Public Radio, and a number of other trade publications and media outlets.

    Bob graduated with a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University and has lived in Fort Lauderdale most of his life. In his leisure time he enjoys coaching his grandchildren’s junior league baseball team.

    Paul Flannery
    IYBA Executive Director
    Paul has been involved in the marine industry for almost his entire life, having started as a dock boy on Eastern Long Island in the late 1960's and working his way up to the position of captain on custom sportfishing boats in the tournament circuit. He holds a 500 ton U.S.C.G. Masters license, has traveled many of the oceans of the world and is also a licensed private pilot.

    In 1992, Paul began working in a yacht brokerage position in Jacksonville Fl. and in 1996, he opened Flannery Yachts, Inc where he was a new boat dealer, ran a complete marine service company and enjoyed great success in the brokerage markets. In 2004, Flannery Yachts combined efforts with HMY Yacht Sales and launched the North Florida representation for various high end production new boat brands as well as brokerage sales. His affiliation with HMY lasted for 12 years and the final two years of Paul's brokerage career were spent with SYS Yachts as Director of Sales, Palm Beach Division.

    In early 2018, Paul was approached by the Executive Committee of IYBA and asked to assume the role of Executive Director on a full-time basis, where he currently directs the day to day operations of the association. His current duties involve the coordination of seminars, networking events, legislative affairs and working with the Board of Directors to shepherd the growth of the organization. When asked what he enjoys most regarding his career, he says that he genuinely enjoys the opportunity to continue to "give back" to the industry which has given him so much.
