Panelists Kim Wayne (Davidson College), Chloe Johnson (Pfeiffer University), Kayla Wood (North Carolina) and Nia Crump (Howard University) will discuss the importance of finding your community, including seeking out mentors and allies, and expanding the community for the generation of underrepresented women that follow you. Abi Jackson
Director of Sports Operations, Athletes Unlimited
Union College Head Coach - 2009-2021. Jackson left Union College tied for first on the program's all-time wins list, as her 80-73 record matches the 80 wins of Linda Bevelander (1997-04). Under her watch, Union produced one All-American, nine All-Region selections, and 51 All-Liberty League honorees. She led the team to one of the best seasons in program history in 2015, when Union posted a 13-4 record and swept the Liberty League regular-season and tournament titles to earn an NCAA Tournament berth, with Jackson also earning Liberty League Coach of the Year honors that season as well. Jackson also made an impact off the field both at Union and beyond. At the College, Jackson was a member of Union's Athletics Gender Equity Committee, the Alumni Gym Inclusivity Committee, the school's Race, Power and Privilege Initiative, and the DEI Recruitment and Retention Committee, among other groups. At the national level, Jackson served on the IWLCA Board of Directors and has spent time on multiple national committees, including the NCAA Rules Committee and the IWLCA Racial Equity Task Force. She currently serves an an Emeritus member of the IWLCA's Equity & Inclusion Committee (EIC), and is part of the planning committee for the IWLCA's annual Multiracial Student-Athletes Leadership Academy.
Kayla Wood
Assistant Coach, University of North Carolina
Kayla Wood is an assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of North Carolina, where she was a three-time ACC Champion, and three-time NCAA Semi-finalist. Wood made history as part of the U.S. National Team that won the inaugural World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship, captaining the team in the process. She has also represented Team USA at the 2021 USA Lacrosse Fall Classic. Prior to coming back to Chapel Hill, Wood was an assistant coach at Princeton during the 2023-24 season. The Tigers recorded five top-25 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round. She also helped produce five All-Ivy League selections and the Ivy League Goalkeeper of the Year.
Kim Wayne
Head Coach, Davidson College
Kim Wayne became head coach of the Davidson women's lacrosse program in July of 2008. She is in her 18th season at the helm of the program. The 2025 campaign was another big step for the program. The 'Cats went 12-5 (8-2 in A-10) and finished in third place during the regular season. This marked the fifth consecutive season with 10 or more victories. Kayla Joyce was named A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year and seven Wildcats landed on an all-conference team. Despite falling in the A-10 Quarterfinals, the senior class set a new program mark for career wins with 48 victories over their four-year tenures. Wayne joined the Wildcat athletic staff after working as an assistant coach for two years at Columbia University in New York, N.Y., and prior to her two-year stint at Columbia, Wayne was an assistant lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins University where she primarily worked with the Blue Jays’ attacking unit. Before her time at JHU, Wayne also spent two years at James Madison where she worked with the Dukes' defensive unit.
Chloe Johnson
Assistant Coach, Pfeiffer University
As a former Ohio State University standout player, Johnson brings an accomplished playing background to Pfeiffer’s program, highlighted by national and conference recognition throughout her collegiate career. She ranks first in Ohio State’s record book with a program-best 243 draw controls and record-setting season total of 124, along with 61 points, 48 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers over 63 games. Johnson earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse Women and USA Lacrosse Magazine, was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association First Team All-Region and secured a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team. Johnson has also served as a facilitator for the IWLCA's Multiracial Student-Athlete Leadership Academy
Nia Crump
Volunteer Coach, Howard University
Army Captain Nia Crump not only serves as the Army Aviation Brigade Engineer at Fort Belvoir, VA, she also volunteers as an assistant coach at Howard University. Crump graduated from Army West Point in 2019 with a BS in Business Management. She was a defender for the women’s lacrosse team and was a team captain during her senior season. Crump made 61 starts for the Black Knights, tallying 45 ground balls, 38 caused turnovers, and six draw controls. She has served at several duty stations and is currently stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. Nia has remained involved in lacrosse, serving as a coach for several club teams, and is currently assisting at Howard University.
Karen Healy-Silcott
Head Coach, Howard University
In July 2021, Howard University announced Karen Healy-Silcott as the Bison's new women's lacrosse head coach. Healy-Silcott arrives at Howard with over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels of competition. She is returning to Division I after spending the last four years in California as the Girls Director for the Firehawks Youth Lacrosse Club. Healy-Silcott also served on the Executive Board for the Oakland Lacrosse Club and is currently a member of the Jamaica National Women's Lacrosse team, most recently representing Jamaica in the last World cup qualifying event as a team captain. Prior to California, Healy-Silcott was the Head Coach at Bryant University. She led the team's successful transition from Division II to Division I and recruited many athletes who garnered academic and post-season accolades. Before taking the reins at Bryant, Healy-Silcott served as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts and an Assistant Program Director for Metro Lacrosse in Boston, MA.
