The explosion of atomic bombs over Japan in August 1945 was perhaps the most dramatic finale of any conflict in history – yet other, equally seismic changes took place at the end of the war. This session will chart the devastation unleashed across large parts of east and southeast Asia, the famine that killed millions throughout the region, and the social and political unrest that would reshape the continent forever.
