David Messum is a winemaker, wine marketeer, and educator. He is the winemaker at Born & Raised Wines, a wine brand that follows his love of Italian wine varieties and minimal intervention winemaking across Victoria’s unique vineyards. David has worked in vintages in New Zealand, working with brands such as Craggy Range, Pyramid Valley and Foxy’s Island, and has hunted out the winemaking secrets of Nebbiolo, his favourite variety, in its homeland Piedmont.
David is also the founder of wine, food and hospitality marketing and business consultancy, Just the Drop where he works with some of Australia’s and Europe’s most exciting wine and lifestyle brands and has seen articles published in Wine Business Magazine, Drinks Trade, and Explore Drinks. Not content with making and marketing wine, he is WSET Dip wine qualified, and also teaches wine as a partner in Sydney Wine Tasting, a boutique wine tasting and teaching business, hosting corporate tasting events and trade training programs for some of Australia’s biggest and most highly regarded hospitality groups. Further bringing the gospel of the fermented grape to the masses he is also the wine guy on Fairfax Media and Virgin Australia’s What’s Cooking radio show. When not thinking about wine, you’ll find him out riding his bike.
Richard Woods (Woodie)

Woodie has worked in the UK, Australia and NZ and has helped FMCG and Liquor companies sell more products in retail by running promotional activations. After working in large networked agencies, Woodie set up Hive Marketing with the sole purpose of creating cost-effective promotions for agencies and clients directly. He also loves an extended lunch and the occasional hit of golf!
