    Take the guesswork out of managing employees in an increasingly complex unionized workplace. This online Foundations Seminar will provide supervisors and managers with day-to-day practical tools to successfully manage employees and administer collective agreements in the workplace.

    In this online Foundations Seminar, participants will gain a thorough understanding of the legal and practical landscape to manage unionized employees, including:

    • Understanding the roles, rights and obligations of the employee, union and manager/supervisor, including limits on management rights and enforcing performance expectations and workplace rules
    • Understanding the collective agreement - the intent of collective agreement language and what happens when a dispute arises over interpretation
    • Managing employee performance - setting expectations, evaluating performance, and applying progressive discipline to manage culpable misconduct
    • Investigating misconduct and conducting a proper investigation

    Learning format and materials

    This online seminar will be completed over one 5-hour session and will incorporate case studies and hypothetical scenarios to provide participants with the opportunity to apply their learnings.

    Can’t make this session at the scheduled time? Registrants will receive a webinar recording after the session to catch up at their convenience.

    This seminar will be redeemable for 5 continuing professional development (CPD) hours through the Chartered Professional in Human Resources of British Columbia and Yukon (CPHR). You can also claim CPD credits with the Law Society of BC.
