We take a look at employers’ obligations and unjust dismissal provisions under the Canada Labour Code. You’ll also learn about the different sources of liability that can arise from a dismissal, and strategies to minimize risks. We also discuss the legal issues raised by the temporary layoffs caused by the pandemic and the lessons learned for avoiding liability in the future.
This session is part of our Harris First Nations Employment Law Series on Managing Employment Law Challenges In The First Nations Workplace. Designed specifically for First Nations workplaces, administrations, economic development corporations, schools, health centres and First Nations-owned businesses, these sessions will equip members of Council, HR Managers, administrators and department leaders to manage human resource challenges that can occur in the workplace.
Our engaging virtual workshops will take a contextual look at current issues shaping the workplace law landscape, and address how employers can be prepared beyond the pandemic.
