This introductory session will provide an overview of the FIPPA FOI process including:

• The purpose of FOI legislation;
• Managing large and difficult requests
• Determining obligations to respond: exceptions; custody and control; transferring requests;
• Calculating and managing timelines;
• The duty to assist and conducting and documenting an adequate search;
• Assessing fees, conducting fee estimates, and fee waivers; and
• File management.
