  • About
In the history of Christianity, the Eucharist controversy was triggered over the interpretation of Holy Communion practiced by many Christian denominations. Still there has not been a clear settlement. In other words, depending on how one looks at the bread and wine used in Communion, there are several competing arguments.

The term we use “communion” means “a shared or mutual participation.” It is not a word that is found in the Bible. It comes from the word “community.” In communion, you can see there is a shared or a mutual participation of the redeemed community or the church; therefore, it is called communion.

This celebration is also called the Eucharist in some traditions, particularly in the Roman Catholic tradition. Eucharist comes from a Greek word meaning “to give thanks.” It is a thanksgiving feast in the Roman Catholic Church tradition. We will explore both the theological and historical aspects of these views.
