Lynsay Ansell
Head of Drama, Hartland International School
Lynsay’s interest in Performing Arts began at a young age, when she enrolled in Ballet and Theatre Dance lessons. Throughout both primary and secondary school, she was heavily involved in school productions and extra-curricular activities such as trips and workshops. At 15 she was lucky enough to be involved in the National Theatre’s BT National Connections Programme for youth theatre and had a first taste of performing in a professional theatre. Having chosen GCSE and then A Level Drama, alongside languages and humanities, she eventually auditioned and gained a place to train in Theatre Studies at Hull University, Scarborough Campus. During this time, she worked with The National Student Drama Festival at the Scarborough Spa Complex and The Stephen Joseph Theatre and was part of the technical crew for Arts on Tour, which saw her working on performances for touring professional theatre companies. During her undergraduate degree course, she developed a particular interest in Physical Theatre and Children’s Theatre, as well as arts management and education. She went on to complete a PGCE in Drama at Leeds University. Lynsay has since taught Drama and Performing Arts courses to students in both primary and secondary, in the UK, Thailand and Dubai. She has a range of experience delivering LAMDA, GCSE, iGCSE, A Level, BTEC and IB syllabi, as well as directing and designing school productions. She believes passionately that providing a high-quality Performing Arts curriculum, as well as enrichment activities, is vital for both student wellbeing and attainment.
