Shahriar Akter is a Professor of Analytics and the Deputy Dean of Research at the Faculty of Arts, Society & Business at UOW, Australia. He was the Associate Dean of Research of the Faculty of Business & Law from 2022 to 2025. He was awarded his PhD from UNSW Business School, Australia, and a research methods fellowship from the University of Oxford. His research interests include advanced analytics & AI, algorithmic biases and digital Innovation. He was recognised as one of the Top Australian Business Researchers by the Australian Newspaper's Research Magazine in 2022 & 2023. He was also featured by CDO Magazine in 2022 as one of the world's leading academic data leaders (in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management School). He has published in leading business & management journals (80+ A or A* ranked articles on the ABDC list) and has 100+ publications. He is among the top 1% of scholars worldwide, according to the Clarivate 2022 & 2023 lists. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Strategic Marketing and Electronic Markets and on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Information Management. He served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute in China, and Toulouse Business School in France. His research has been featured in TIME Magazine, Reuters, WIRED (USA), Grist Magazine (USA), CDO Magazine (USA), The Australian, ABC, SBS, The Canberra Times, The Illawarra Mercury, News.com.au and Times Higher Education.
