Mood concerns affect a significant number of adult individuals. While pharmacological treatments, such as antidepressant medications, are commonly prescribed for its management, there is a growing body of research suggesting the potential benefits of alternative and adjunctive interventions. This presentation provides the landscape of evidence and aims to explore the effectiveness of prescribed moderate intensity exercise as compared to usual care, defined as prescribed antidepressant medications, in the tertiary prevention of depressive sequelae in adult patients diagnosed with unipolar depression. By examining this comparison, it may be possible to shed light on the potential role of exercise as a complementary approach to traditional pharmacotherapy in promoting mental well-being and mitigating the long-term consequences of depression.*

Practical applications of the current literature will be discussed as well as additional considerations such as nutritional guidance and the use of dietary supplements in this population.*

Botanicals included in this presentation include saffron, St. John’s wort, turmeric, and rhodiola.

This webinar is for healthcare professionals and students only.
