Balaji Gopal

Balaji leads Vanguard’s direct client business and platform where we shape how Vanguard can deliver the best possible investment experience to our investors.
In this role he interacts with the various teams across Vanguard to make investing less daunting, simple and to help its investors build long term wealth with confidence.
Prior to this role, Balaji headed Vanguard Australia’s product strategy team where he led the team responsible for designing and developing Vanguard’s funds and ETFs.

Brett has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He joined Aberdeen in 2000 and has held roles in operations, product management, sales and marketing in Australia and the UK. Before joining Aberdeen, Brett worked for EquitiLink Australia, Chase Manhattan Bank and Permanent Trustee.
Brett is a member of the Financial Services Council (FSC) funds management board committee and the NSW Council of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce. Previous roles include director of the Financial Services Council (2013 to 2020), co-chair of the FSC investment board committee (2013-2020), and member of the FSC standards oversight & disciplinary committee (2015 – 2019).

Most recently a regulatory analyst with Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence, Wietske spent six years analysing the impact of financial regulation on market participants across the globe. Prior to this, she was a staff writer at Risk Magazine covering derivatives, risk management and technology across Europe and Asia-Pacific. She started her career as editor of Unquote”, a European private equity publication.
Wietske holds a master’s degree with distinction in global political economy (specialising in global finance) from the University of Sussex, and obtained a first-class bachelor of arts in international relations with French from Université Grenoble Alpes (formerly Université Pierre Mendès France) and the University of Sussex.
