About
Introducing supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) — a high-efficiency working fluid for modern power generation. This webinar sets the scene with today’s energy landscape, explores the dual challenge of rising energy demand and environmental emissions, and introduces the concept; explaining what sCO2 is, how it compares to existing working fluids, and why it can revolutionise power generation processes. Attendees will learn how sCO2 can deliver greater efficiency than steam and support lower-carbon power generation, including integration pathways for gas turbines, nuclear and renewables.

The sCO2 concept is then brought to life through the STEP Demo operational facility by GTI Energy. The session provides an overview of the STEP Demo facility purpose and objectives, covering key elements of the project’s design, installation and testing - as well the facility is promoting wider sCO2 adoption and testing.

Finally, the webinar shows how Parker technologies are enabling practical sCO2 deployment through Heatric printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHEs). Drawing on Heatric’s history across sCO2 projects and its contribution to the STEP Demo facility, Parker explains Heatric PCHE performance and compactness are critical to achieving efficient, reliable sCO2 systems. The session concludes with a live Q&A with presenters and experts from both Parker and GTI Energy.
