Today's power grids are facing significant challenges that jeopardize their operations and transmission assets. The rising electricity demand due to population growth, the expansion of data centers, and the shift toward electrification are all straining transmission infrastructure. Additionally, the growing demand for renewable energy is leading to record setting interconnection queues thanks to congested grids.

Additionally, climate change intensifies the problem by increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, wildfires, heatwaves, and winter storms, which damage critical grid components and lead to prolonged power outages and substantial economic losses.

Grid modernization, distributed energy resources, demand response programs, and energy efficiency improvements can address some of the challenges of an overloaded grid. However, power line monitoring, and Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) which provide real-time data, is a powerful tool to enhance grid resilience by quickly identifying and reporting damage from extreme weather, facilitating rapid response and repair. The technology also provides a real-time look at capacity capabilities on a given transmission line through Dynamic Line Ratings (DLR), often increasing capacity by upwards of 40%.

Amir Livne is the Vice President of Strategy, Innovation, and Structural Change at the Israel Electric Corporation. He is responsible for shaping the company's strategy and overseeing the historic reform and structural change within the company and the electricity market. Additionally, Amir is in charge of the company's innovation process and business development. Since 2003, Amir has held various management positions at the Israel Electric Corporation and has been involved in all major processes in the electricity sector over the past two decades.

Amir holds an L.L.B (Bachelor's degree) in Law from the University of Haifa and an L.L.M (Master's degree) in Law from the University of Haifa.

Dr. Eran Inbar

Eran is the Founder & CEO of Prisma Photonics, a company that creates cutting-edge utility monitoring solutions using optical fibers. The company is based in Tel Aviv, Israel, and specializes in solutions to monitor power networks for thousands of kilometers without installing anything on the lines or towers. This enables utility operators to effectively monitor power lines, keeping them running and optimizing capacity without the need for extra sensors.

Before his tenure at Prisma Photonics, Eran served as General Manager at Spectra-Physics in Tel Aviv, which was formed out of and sold. His leadership contributed significantly to the company's success and growth. Eran holds a Ph.D. in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University.

Aaron has a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering technology and a master’s degree, specializing in finance. He spent 13 years in the U.S. Navy nuclear power program, advancing to Chief Petty Officer. He has worked at commercial nuclear, biomass, and coal-fired power plants, functioning in operations, maintenance, safety, financial, and management capacities. Aaron holds a Chief A Engineer boiler operator license in the state of Minnesota.
