College Savings - A Critical Element To An All-Weather Employee Wellness Offering

Presented by
Omar Marquez
Consultant, 529 College Savings Program Manager, TIAA

WEBINAR SUMMARY

Employees need employer help saving for college. With today’s collective student loan debt now exceeding $1.5 trillion, employees need help saving for college. But only a fraction of employers currently offer a college workplace savings program, and many employees don’t know workplace college savings plans even exist.

In the Society for Human Resource Management's 2019 Employee Benefits survey of more than 2,500 HR professionals, only 11 percent of respondents offered 529 plans at their companies.

Employees may not ask their employers for this benefit because they are unaware it exists. Only 29 percent of U.S. adults know that 529 plans are an education savings tool, according to a 2018 survey with more than 1,000 respondents by investment firm Edward Jones.

Join this webinar to better understand the state of higher education, the impact saving for college makes on employees, and how employers can make a difference.
