Congratulations! You have been accepted to a U.S. university and are preparing to depart for this upcoming Fall 2022. We at EducationUSA are so thrilled for you and the new adventure you are undertaking!

In this Pre-Departure webinar, we are going to go over the following:
- Welcome remarks from a U.S. diplomat
- Paperwork you need to prepare and bring with you over the border
- Crossing the border (with a Guest Speaker from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection)
- What COVID-19 protocols to expect
- Important people and resources at your new university
- Some tips about cars/driving, pets, banking, and cell phones
- Getting settled in your new home
- Closing celebration for departing students

Who should attend?
- Students from Canada who are enrolling in Undergraduate or Graduate studies in the United States for the 2022-2023 academic year and their family members.

The session will be recorded and every registered attendee will receive a link to the recording directly after the programming. You will not be on mic or camera for this session and will communicate through a chat feature.

Daniel Stewart
Cultural Attaché, U.S. Embassy Ottawa
Daniel is the Cultural Affairs Officer leading country-wide coordination of cultural and educational programs, including exchanges and speakers programs, for the U.S. Embassy and Mission Canada’s seven constituent posts.  Daniel has previously served as Cultural Affairs Officer in Baghdad, Iraq; Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Recife, Brazil; and, Assistant Public Affairs Advisor at the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels, Belgium. Daniel also served several tours at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. including as Branch Chief for Student Programs in the Department’s Office of Recruitment, Examination and Employment, and as Desk Officer for Haiti in the Office of Caribbean Affairs. Daniel received a Bachelor’s of English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Master’s from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Daniel’s spouse is a documentary filmmaker, and they are parents to two children.

Nathan Blore
CBP International Officer, US Customs and Border Protection
Nathan Blore is currently serving as a CBP International Officer with International Affairs at the US Embassy in Ottawa, Canada. Mr. Blore has over fourteen years of experience with US Customs and Border Protection and has been assigned to both domestic and foreign locations during his career.

Prior to his assignment at the US Embassy, he served at CBP Headquarters in Washington, DC and supervised passenger operations at CBP Preclearance locations in Ottawa and Montreal Canada. Mr. Blore has completed several temporary assignments, working as a Target Analyst at the National Targeting Center in Sterling, VA and also as an Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA.

Mr. Blore began his career with US Customs and Border Protection in 2008 at the Champlain, NY port of entry, working passenger operations and assigned to the Counter Terrorism Response Team. A graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, Mr. Blore holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with minor degrees in Psychology and Sociology.
