The Northwestern Alumni Medal—the highest honor given by the Northwestern Alumni Association—was bestowed during Homecoming and Reunion Weekend to a television producer; an entrepreneur in the finance and banking sector; an electrical engineer with 30 patents; and a White House correspondent.

During Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, President Morton Schapiro moderated a panel discussion with the 2017 Northwestern Alumni Medal recipients about how Northwestern shaped their lives and careers.

Morton Schapiro began his term as the 16th president of Northwestern in 2009. He is also a professor of economics in Northwestern’s Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and holds appointments in the Kellogg School of Management and the School of Education and Social Policy.
