Farouk currently leads Amazon’s international public policy in sub-Saharan Africa for Amazon Leo, the company’s Low Earth Orbit satellite broadband network. Amazon Leo’s mission is to provide fast, affordable connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Farouk’s experience over the last 23 years has involved organisations and activities in the private, PPP, non-profit, and public sectors including Organon, MSD, Gavi, AMREF Health Africa, and the Prime Ministers Department in Ottawa, Canada. His advocacy and policy engagement work in international development and foreign policy have been recognised by (amongst others) the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation’s Global Fellowship, and the Banff Forum in Canada.
Farouk received his graduate degrees from Harvard and Cambridge universities and completed his undergraduate education at McGill. He is currently pursuing an Executive MBA from London Business School. Farouk also holds a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from INSEAD.
