For over eleven years, Peter has scaled large teams and led the negotiation of WeWork’s global portfolio, having started as the company’s first real estate lawyer and later serving as General Counsel from 2017 to 2018. Previously, Peter spent ten years at NBC Universal as VP of Corporate & Transaction Law and is an alumnus of Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Gabe Marans is a tenant-rep commercial real estate broker with an exclusive focus on occupier strategy. He advises clients on multi-market evaluation, lease and portfolio optimization, site selection, labor analytics, and deal structuring across both traditional and flex categories. Gabe has led global tenant representation projects totaling over 10M square feet for companies like Duolingo, Ralph Lauren, Braze, Comcast, Expedia, and Jones Day.

Outside of brokerage, Gabe helped establish The Judah Marans Memorial Fund in memory of his brother, supporting the creation of the Judah Marans Music and Art Center at Yavneh Academy. He serves on the Jewish Federations of North America’s National Young Leadership Cabinet and is the former board chair of NYU’s Bronfman Center.

In August 2024, Gabe was named one of Crain’s Notable Real Estate Leaders in NYC—an honor recognizing professional excellence and ethical leadership. He’s consistently cited as a real estate “Power Player” and contributes as a columnist across industry media.

Roy Abernathy

Roy Abernathy joined Newmark in December 2017 and currently leads the Workplace and Consulting practice in the firm’s Global Corporate Services (GCS) division. A 27-year workplace veteran, Abernathy has substantial expertise in development, sustainability, energy performance, business process, change management, workplace strategy and commercial real estate. He has been involved in more than 15 million square feet of real estate transactions within the corporate, law, communications, education and healthcare sectors, including four of the largest U.S. corporate mergers during the 1990s. Transactions have ranged from single facility transactions to those with more than 10,000 facilities.

Abernathy also leads the Newmark New Normal Team which is focused on assisting clients to create new ways of working post-COVID-19. He and his team work with public and private institutions on planning and implementing new ways of using space in the initial stages of occupancy through what will become the new normal. Abernathy has put together platforms that address the technology, physical and behavioral changes needed to create a safe and supportive environment as we reshape work and workplace.

Kate Harper

Kate started at WeWork in August 2015 as a Real Estate lawyer, first overseeing growth of the West Coast portfolio and eventually managing the Real Estate legal team for the US & Canada as Associate General Counsel. In 2018, Kate moved to the Global Real Estate business team and is now responsible for leading strategic transactions and product incubation in addition to overseeing multiple market portfolios in the US and Canada. Kate also serves on WeWork's Global Diversity Leadership Council, which focuses on expanding and implementing the company's DEI initiatives, and is an Executive Sponsor of Parents at WeWork.

Prior to WeWork, Kate worked as a real estate associate in the New York office of Paul Hastings LLP. Kate received her JD from Columbia University and a BA in Religious Studies from Yale University. Kate is also a founding member of Urban Land Institute's Flex Space and Experience Council. She lives in New York City with her husband, Rob, and two young sons, Charlie & Sam.
