He sits on the board of the global certification body International Institute of Business Analysis, holds an undergraduate business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada and MSc in Computer Science from Lancaster University in the UK.

    TJ McCarthy, SRA, ASA, IFA is president and owner of Accurity T. J. McCarthy & Associates, Ltd.

    He began his appraisal career in 1977 and holds the SRA designation with the Appraisal Institute and the ASA and IFA designations with the American Society of Appraisers. In 1991, TJ became the first appraiser in the State of Illinois to pass the real estate appraiser exam and receive his license.

    In 2004, TJ worked with the Fannie/Freddie appraisal forms development team, which rewrote all of the national appraisal forms used by lenders for Fannie/Freddie/HUD/VA appraisal assignments. In 2002 he was appointed by the State of Illinois to the Illinois Real Estate Appraisal Licensing Board with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. TJ is an approved instructor for the Appraisal Institute and the American Society of Appraisers. He has written numerous appraisal courses, as well as industry articles for trade magazines and local newspapers on appraisal related topics.
