Contraception for women aged 40 and over: key considerations

About This Webinar

This session will be presented by Dr Katie Boog.

When do you no longer need contraception?
What contraception is safe in individuals over 40?
Can you use contraception alongside or instead of HRT?
What is the advice about extended use of LARC in older individuals?

Individuals aged over 40 have different contraception requirements because the safety profile for contraception is different to that of younger women, and contraception may alleviate or masks symptoms of perimenopause. This presentation will give you an understanding of:
- how to assess the risk:benefit of contraceptive options in individuals over 40
- how and when to stop contraception
- how and when to use contraception alongside HRT
to give you the knowledge and skills to confidently discuss these questions with your patients.
