About
The basic science of anodizing aluminum is presented in the context of the anodizing circuit as a model for its origins from the substrate anode and the anodizing process parameters. Helpful examples of various possible anodizing defects and their sources are presented.

Agenda
  • Develop a virtual picture of the anodizing circuit in order to understand the nature and mechanism for anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) development and growth
  • Make the connection between the substrate microstructure and the structure of the AAO
  • Make the connection between the anodizing circuit and the quality of the AAO structure
