Stephen Briers

Stephen Briers has been an automotive business journalist for more than 30 years, starting his career with vehicle accident repair title Body Magazine in 1993.

He joined Emap in 1998 and was editor of leading franchised dealer publication Automotive Management from 2002-2009 during which time he was named Emap Automotive’s editor of the year.

Editor of Fleet News since 2009, with the brand winning Bauer Media’s website of the year in 2011, Stephen was promoted to group editor of Fleet News and Automotive Management in 2015, overseeing the content strategy across digital, social media and events. Since October 2023, his portfolio of brands also includes RAIL magazine.

Elaine Pringle
Fleet manager, Scottish Water
Elaine has worked with Scottish Water (SW) since 2008 and moved into fleet management in 2014. As fleet manager, Elaine is accountable for operating a diverse fleet of over 500 cars, 1,300 vans, 120 HGVs and 500 items of plant operating pan Scotland from the borders to the highlands and islands. Most recently, Elaine created and is delivering on SW's transport decarbonisation strategy, transitioning SW's fleet to electric where economic and operationally practicable, and exploring the use of alternative fuels for vehicle segments that are more difficult to electrify.

Elaine is an active member of Fleet News, participating in FN at 10 and FN Strategy networks. Elaine also supports and attends a number of other industry forums including Logistics UK, AFP and chairs the Water UK Fleet Manager forum.

Lorna McAtear
Head of Fleet, National Grid
Having worked at several major organisations and led on several electric vehicle related projects including Optimise Prime, Lorna joined National Grid in August 2019 as Fleet Manager. Now Head of Fleet, she is invited to speak at many key events, she is deputy chair and board member of the Association of Fleet Professionals.

She is also the winner of the Barbara Cox – Woman of the Year 2021, Greenfleet’s Outstanding Achievement award 2022 and the Wellbeing, Diversity & Inclusion in Fleet award at the Fleet News Awards 2022. She has also retained her number one position as Greenfleet’s most influential person for the 2nd year in a row.

Paul Hollick
Chair, AFP
Paul Hollick is Chairman of the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) and Chief Executive Officer of Lightfoot. He is a recognised industry figure, panellist and presenter at various domestic and international conferences. Paul is widely regarded as an expert in Maas/Big data solutions and managing businesses to reach the peak of their potential.

Paul has had a diverse career and has held senior board roles within retail, OEM, leasing, fleet management, fuel, mobility and technology businesses.

Paul is also one of the AFP Fleet Academy tutors and regularly delivers course modules on finance.

In 2025, Paul received the inaugural Fleet News 'Outstanding Contribution To Fleet' award - a true testament to his commitment and passion for the sector.

Samantha Biggs
Roadside fleet manager, The AA
With 15 years of experience at the AA, I began my journey in the Driving School segment, where I honed my skills across various areas of the business. In 2022, I was asked to lead the Fleet team, which quickly became a pivotal moment in my career. Realising my passion for fleet management, I transformed the Fleet division from offering just two brands to six, significantly enhancing customer choice. Since July, I have been leading the Roadside Fleet, embracing the exciting challenges and opportunities in this dynamic field.

Simon Jones
Head of Fleet Operations, Novuna
Having spent three decades in Transport and Logistics, Simon has led multi discipline warehouse and transport operations across complex and fast-moving supply chains. During his 18 year tenure with DHL, he played a pivotal role in transforming the Direct to Consumer delivery model, guiding both on trade and off trade networks through the most significant period of change in modern brewery logistics.

Following DHL, Simon spent three years with The AA, where he led the South West and Wales region, driving operational performance and service excellence.

For over four years, Simon has been part of Novuna Vehicle Solutions, where he has progressed to the role of Head of Fleet Operations. In this capacity, he leads the end to end service delivery for customers, ensuring their fleets remain safe, compliant, and performing at maximum availability.
Known for his operational expertise, people leadership, and deep industry experience, Simon continues to shape and elevate fleet operations within one of the UK’s most trusted mobility providers.
