In 2023 the European Parliament adopted a Pilot Project called a ’Proposal for a Joint European Approach towards Radioactive Waste’. The aim was to enable policymakers to assess, data in hand, whether pooling European resources together to deal with radioactive waste makes sense. DG ENER responded to the EP’s initiative by launching two parallel projects in 2024: a Compendium of Knowledge and a Consultation on a joint European approach towards radioactive waste. The presentation will explore the current state and the ambitions of both projects.
