Dr. Jason Fleming is chair and senior member of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Dr. Fleming is a surgical oncologist and belongs to the multidisciplinary team dedicated to treating pancreatic and other GI cancers. Dr. Fleming completed his medical degree at the University of Tennessee, Center of Health Science, Memphis, and his clinical residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas.Prior to coming to Moffitt, Dr. Fleming was professor with tenure in the Department of Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he served as chief of Pancreas Surgery and executive director of Perioperative Services. In addition to his academic and administrative responsibilities at MD Anderson, Dr. Fleming was co-director of the Pancreatic Cancer Moonshot Program, a Scientific and Medical Advisory board member for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), and a consultant for the Society of Abdominal Radiology Disease-Focused Panel

Dr. Sarah Hoffe is the Section Head of GI Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center and joined the faculty in 2006. She is a Senior Member at Moffitt and Professor in the University Of South Florida Morsani College Of Medicine’s Department of Oncologic Sciences. Dr. Hoffe’s research and clinical interests include cancers of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, bile duct, rectum, colon, anus, as well as neuroendocrine cancers. She has experience with advanced radiation therapy techniques including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), radioembolization, and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using endoscopically implanted fiducial markers. At Moffitt, she works closely with her multidisciplinary colleagues including GI surgeons, medical oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists and pathologists to develop new treatments for patients with GI cancers. Dr. Hoffe received her MD degree from the University of Vermont. She then completed a transitional year internship at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville followed by residency in radiation oncology at Duke University Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Nationally, she is the Director of eContouring at ASTRO, is on the advisory board for the Contemporary Radiation Oncology Journal, and is a contributor to the Up to Date Online educational site, having co-authored the section on bone metastases.

Dr. Hodul is a Surgical Oncologist within the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology and Medical Director of Nutrition at Moffitt Cancer Center. Previously she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center. She then went on to complete both a clinical and research fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Surgical Oncology. Dr. Hodul’s clinical practice is focused in the areas of pancreaticobiliary and gastrointestinal surgery. She has a particular interest in the management and treatment of benign and neoplastic diseases of the pancreas and stomach. Dr. Hodul’s efforts are primarily focused on improved patient outcomes through patient education, nutritional optimization, and a comprehensive care model which includes a multi-disciplinary team approach to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of gastrointestinal malignancies.

Dr. Kim received his MD degree from the Inha University School of Medicine, Incheon, South Korea. He then completed an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York City (NY) and a Melanoma Immunotherapy Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. He recently completed a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of South Florida. Dr. Kim will specialize in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, with a focus on immunotherapy.

Dr. James Costello is an Associate Member in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Costello earned his MD at Emory University and his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He completed a Radiology Residency at Emory University. Dr. Costello’s clinical interests focus on body imaging with an emphasis on dynamic and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Dr. Costello investigates new applications of MRI in an attempt to better quantify and describe clinical metrics.
