If you’re considering a career in UX, you might be wondering: Is it possible to get a job in the field without any prior experience? If so, this is the event for you. On January 13, 2021, we’ll be speaking with three CareerFoundry alumni who now work as UX designers—despite never having worked in a related field before. Our alumni panel will be led by:

    • Jannell Lee, a former research assistant (now a product designer)
    • Jeff Buchanan, a former pastor (now a UX designer)
    • Tanya Oxley, a former marketing manager, product photographer, and English teacher (now a UX/UI designer)

As you can see, UX designers come from all walks of life and professional backgrounds. So, no matter where you’re coming from or what field you’re currently in, you too can become a UX designer! But don’t take our word for it. Join us for this free, interactive webinar for insights, advice, and general words of wisdom from those who have successfully made their career-change.

We hope to see you there!

    About the speakers:

Jannell Lee has always been fascinated by human behavior and wanted a career where she could utilize her background in psychology and research while creating a positive impact on her community. Unsatisfied with office life, she began exploring other avenues and found UX/UI design. She immediately knew this was the field for her. Jannell is now working in product design at a software agency in San Diego, CA.

Jeff Buchanan While Jeff’s experience shows a variety of career paths, the one common theme that has always surfaced is his passion for problem solving. As he considered new career change, he discovered that his appreciation for analytical thinking and creativity was a perfect fit for a career in User Experience Design. Today, Jeff is a Design Strategist for Duke Energy where he is responsible for the research and development of strategic design solutions to benefit the customer/client experience for products within the Fossil Hydro business unit.

Tanya Oxley is a UX/UI designer on a mission to improve human experiences through design. With a background in marketing, Tanya knows the value of developing a desirable product, understanding customer needs, and keeping business objectives in mind. Once she learned more about UX and human-centered design, Tanya knew that she wanted to be part of actively building solutions that would make a meaningful impact on users. In 2019, Tanya transitioned to a career in UX design. Tanya says: “I believe that user experience design is at the perfect intersection of creativity and analysis. While there is so much room for creative expression, I love that UX design focuses on the user and that solutions are based on real, human needs.”
