Discover how your skills in “everyday life” can prepare you for your role as a local preservation commissioner. Many people don’t realize that they have skills and talents that can help them be better commissioners and help their preservation program to grow and thrive. Often we possess skills that we didn’t realize. Have you ever organized an event, served on a committee for school, church or your neighborhood, held a garage sale or bake sale, written the neighborhood newsletter—all of these activities use time and talent needed for serving on the preservation commission and helping staff and your community achieve its preservation goals.
