About This Webinar
Through interactive and experiential learning with a combination of individual, small and whole group activities, this session will have participants taking a deeper dive into understanding equity and its impacts on learning environment. By examining the isms that exist in our system, micro-aggression, privilege, internalized and transferred oppression, they will learn how to build strong and healthy relationships in order to create excellent learning environments and seek ways to improve school culture with all students. This is a part 2 training on equity and participants must ah e had at least one IEA training on equity or racial and social justice in order to attend.

Gifted and Talented Teacher, IEA HCR Committee
Leona is a Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) facilitator in Boise School District. She is currently working on her doctorate degree in educational leadership with a focus in educational equity. She has been reflecting on her white privilege and actively searching out how to use that privilege to be an anti-racist and co-conspirator with her brothers and sisters of color since 2002. It was at that time she had the honor of working with Glenn Singleton and the Pacific Educational group to effectively utilize Courageous Conversations to address to the system racism in our schools. Her passion for educational equity has driven her to seek out opportunities such as Harvard University's Race, Equity, and Leadership in Schools (REAL) program, NEA's Leaders for Just Schools ongoing training, Pacific Educational Group's Beyond Equity program, and many more. She shares the experience and knowledge she gains by facilitating classes on educational equity, becoming a trainer for NEA's Just Schools, becoming an IEA trainer, presenting professional development, and participating in district level equity committees. Her passion and dedication to equity drive her learn more, and she would be honored to learn with you this summer!

Caitlin is an English teacher at Pocatello High School and has been teaching for eight years. She received her Bachelor's degree in English Teaching from Boise State University in 2010, and her Master's degree from Concordia University in Curriculum & Instruction: Adolescent Literacy in 2016. She is a member of the PEA, Region 5's Human & Civil Rights Committee Member, and a facilitator for the NEA's Leaders for Just Schools.
