The first video segment shows Tsuyoshi Nakamura sealing a 5mm thick window onto boro tubing. Without pre-heating the boro plate in the kiln, glass plate master Tsuyoshi expertly deals with the compression and tension issues of a thick flat disk being sealed to a tube.
The second video shows Hideaki Hashimoto demonstrating a side arm seal to a 25mm tube. This precise no-blow process involves tools Hideaki has devised and adapted for his own method. The results are cells so accurate they are interchangeable: they have to be perfect.
The third part of the webinar features Joe Gregar’s exploration of fundamentals. He shows us 5 different ways to make 90 degree side seals with 25mm and 10x1.5mm tubing. He starts his demo by first executing a simple, straight up manual side seal and works his way through four more methods, ending with a side seal rotating vacuum swivel.
