Welcome to the excitement of a unique, three-year emergency medicine residency program in Southern California. We are excited to match another group of talented residents to join our experienced academic attendings in a friendly supportive environment that has both high patient volume and very high acuity.

Riverside Community Hospital is continuously growing to meeting the demands and needs of our booming community. We now have approximately 500 inpatient beds, 68 ICU beds, a comprehensive stroke center, and a new ED treatment area serving the Inland Empire. Our beautiful campus lies conveniently in the heart of downtown Riverside 50 miles east of Los Angeles and 50 miles north of Laguna Beach.

RCH is a referral center for higher level of care to the Inland Empire. Our expansive emergency department sees over 120,000 patients a year and is a regional STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and trauma center. We are the only Joint Commission Certified Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center in the western United States (and the second in the nation). Specialty services include trauma surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, hand surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, bariatric surgery, radiology, interventional radiology, nephrology, infectious disease, neurology (including acute stroke and neuro-interventional), interventional cardiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, NICU and neonatology, ophthalmology, hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, and gynecologic oncology.

The UCR School of Medicine represents the newest expansion of the University of California system, joining a prestigious group of medical educators in our state. As the affiliated emergency medicine residency program for UCR, we look forward to a long tradition of excellence in patient care and medical education. Emergency Medicine residents will train directly with clinical professors and instructors from UCR and will mentor UCR medical students. The advanced simulation center at the UCR campus, located just 2 miles away, provides outstanding training in both cognitive and procedural skills.

Our unique program combines high level state-of-the-art care with the real-world practice of a highly efficient community hospital. Residents from our program are among the best in the nation, having learned the newest in patient care coupled with the ability to handle the realities of high volume emergency departments. Graduates complete the program with enormous procedural confidence given the patient volume and acuity. Our residents are superbly positioned to enter the workforce and make an important impact on emergency care.

At the RCH/UCR emergency medicine residency you will thrive amid university level health care with exceptional patient volume in a friendly and supportive hospital. We’ll take care of you, so you can take care of patients.
