This will be a two-for-one training opportunity and will be available online and in-person. These courses are open to anyone needing CEUs for ICC and CACEO certification.
ICC CECOC has also partnered with California CACEO to provide these pieces of training to their members. Lunch will be provided for live attendees. (50-person capacity)
The first course is a discussion on what a code official can do to improve accountability and consistency.
In this class, we will explore the crucial role of accountability and consistency for code enforcement officers as leaders. As a code enforcement officer, you have the responsibility of ensuring that your community is safe and compliant with local regulations. To effectively carry out this responsibility, it is essential to establish and maintain a culture of accountability and consistency.
Chief Charles Celano discusses understanding the importance of accountability and consistency in your role as a code enforcement officer and how to effectively implement these principles in your leadership approach. You will be equipped with practical tools and strategies to help you create a high-performing and compliant team, ultimately leading to a safer and more prosperous community.
The second course is regarding street vending enforcement updates based on the passage of SB297 (Gonzalez) in California.
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill to modernize state code and regulations surrounding street vending. Senate Bill 972 is a landmark law designed to make it easier for vendors to sell food on streets throughout the state. Long Beach state Sen. Lena Gonzalez authored SB 972, which is a massive update to the California Retail Food Code. The bill offers a more streamlined path to acquiring a permit and prohibits criminal penalties from health departments or law enforcement. What does this mean to Code Enforcement? Attorney Jim Eckart of Dapeer, Rosenblit, & Litvak LLP (DRL) will help code officials understand this latest change in the law.
