Our seventh annual Technology Outlook series of Webinars finishes up with Appearance Management, sponsored by Tecnau. Perhaps best thought of as the next generation of color management, “appearance management” attempts to accurately replicate on screen not just the colorimetric data that will be printed (like color management) but the per-pixel spectral and specular data, or how each point in an image interacts with light directionally, not just chromatically. So, for example, being able to accurately preview what a digital embellishment is going to look like when it’s printed is becoming a vitally important part of the proofing process. Appearance management is also becoming an important issue for brands and retailers, as the number one reason for product returns is “the item did not match what was ordered online.”
Join Don Carli on Friday, August 28 at 1 pm ET, as he defines appearance management, explains why it is becoming one of the most important issues for brands, packaging converters, and other print providers, and identifies the tools and standards that can manage image appearance. If you do work for brands—or are getting into digital embellishments—you’ll want to attend this session.
